North-west Morris dancing in Lancashire, Cheshire & adjoining counties
North-west Morris is one of the six regional styles of morris dancing found in England.
This website aims to document and provide links to other sites that contain information or photographs of morris teams in the North-west, before the revival that took place in the 1950/60/70s. To access the photo and video links, use the navigation panel at the top right of each web-page.
Although I am not an active researcher into the North-west Morris, I have danced with Manchester Morris Men for over 40 years.
Over time, I have 'jotted down' links to websites that contain photos and other 'snippets' relating to the North-west Morris ; especially before WW2.
As such, this website aims to list those links, in case they help others wanting to know more about the North-west Morris from 100 years ago.

ADDENDUM APRIL 2014
With the recent re-opening of Manchester Central Library, and its excellent "Archives+" facility, I am aware that several of the photographs referred to in this website area also searchable via the Greater Manchester Lives website. At present, I have not investigated any further, only flagged the fact here ; and as I have now moved away from Manchester, am unlikely to investigate further.
